Our roots are deeply steeped in the fiber arts, with training backgrounds in hand knitting, Gobelins tapestry and floor loom weaving, dyeing, felting, and shibori. Our love affair with hand crafted textiles inspires us, and it is an integral part of our lives and who we are as people. Fiber arts are at the heart of our creative expression, our passion, our spirituality and our gifts. How did we get here: Our zeal for the fiber arts, a cultural anthropology education that honors the artisan work of communities throughout the world, our business background, and our experience in the natural toy industry intertwined together when we were introduced to Barefoot products and it led us to changing careers.
When a dear friend gifted us a Barefoot product she hand carried back directly from Colombo, Sri Lanka, we realized we crossed a portal into a new chapter of our lives. Being fiber artists ourselves, we instantly recognized the extraordinary quality of the design, the vibrancy of the hand woven fabric, the detailed handwork, and its unmistakable character. The more we learned about Barbara Sansoni, Barefoot's founder, and the organization, the more these products captivated our hearts: Barefoot's history, fair trade ethics, empowerment of craftswomen, eco-friendly materials, and the 100% hand made process from start to finish. All these factors inspired us to share Barefoot with others. As a result, we bring Barefoot to our community of customers and friends with pride and enthusiasm.
We recently celebrated our 10th anniversary working with the products. We feel tremendous dedication and devotion towards Barefoot and one reason is the joy it brings others. It is evident in people's faces when they light up with a smile, when we hear their laughter or watch their eyes twinkle with glee. Many people have told us how happy and cheerful these toys make them feel. The unusual designs are amazing, the quality of the craftsmanship impeccable, and the colors bright, bold and innovative, but additionally it seems people respond to something beyond these measurable qualities. It is the resilient quality of human touch and human skill palpable in each hand crafted Barefoot product, and it stirs people's hearts. We completely understand because we fell in love with Barefoot products and they dazzled us too!
Rumi said it exquisitely, "Let the beauty of what you love be what you do." It is clear Barefoot is passionate about being a premier textile design company, for over 40 years, producing premium quality workmanship. We too love what Barefoot does and are excited to spread the news. We compiled many interesting and informative details for you. Dig a little deeper and learn more at Eco & Ethical and Barefoot Toys.
